DIY Tutorial: Making a cape!


Making a capelet

All seamstresses know that the cutting process generates a considerable amount of waste. What to do with the fabric remnants?

This cape, designed under the Re-Fab project with Fripe Fabrique and Jul-in-the-Sky, was designed from scraps of a dress we shortened. Not only were we able to divert the material from landfills, we also created an accessory that will brighten up any outfit!

Making a dress shorter and hems

One of the best way to simply update a garment is to change its length! It's an easy project to do if you want to upgrade a vintage garment of a questionable length, to change the look of your favourite skirt or have more freedom in your movements!

This alteration, made ​​under the Re-Fab Project with Fripe Fabrique and Jul-in-the-Sky, has allowed us to transform a cocktail dress into a more casual one... Do the same by following our step by step tutorial!
